I've been using WindowBlinds for a while and didn't see this problem until now... I recently rebuilt my system (but didn't change any hardware) and now when I apply a skin, the "Please Wait" graphic comes up and stays there for about 2 minutes. Meanwhile, my CPU fan spins up faster and faster because it's getting hotter while being overloaded with work. Eventually, the desktop becomes a corrupt hybrid between the two skins, some parts having changed and others not, but generally nothing being recognizable or any text legible because it's on top of each other and using bizarre colors. If I wait another few minutes, then the desired skin finally loads and everything seems fine, despite the painful ordeal.
I have a feeling there's something wrong with the fancy fade effect that was introduced a while ago. WB used to just apply skins on the fly and you would see the pieces changing as it did so, but then in one version it started applying all the changes behind the scenes and then building a desktop animation to fade from the old theme to the new. That seems to be the part that is messing up on my system. Is there any way to disable it?
Here's my system info:
Intel D925XCV, 3GHz P4
1GB RAM
eVGA NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT, 128MB, ForceWare 91.31
WinXP Pro SP2
Currently using WB version 5.01f.010 but this happened with previous betas as well.
